Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at the Makarem, I was intrigued by its culinary offerings, particularly after hearing about its restaurant and café. The ambiance was designed to meld comfort with sophistication, which caught my attention as a marine biologist who loves indulging in locally sourced cuisine. I started my day at breakfast. While I wasn't aiming for a full feast, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available. Dishes included fresh local produce alongside more internationally recognized breakfast items – a nod to its diverse clientele. The combination made it an interesting start to the day. One evening, I dined in their restaurant, and it was here that the creativity of the chefs truly shone. Though I focused on dishes that highlighted sustainable seafood, I appreciated the care taken in preparation and presentation. The service was attentive; however, the language barrier occasionally hindered communication, a point that could improve over time. The Makarem provided a solid dining experience, showcasing an effort to cater to a variety of tastes. Though not without its minor drawbacks, the culinary innovation present made it memorable enough for fellow food enthusiasts to consider giving it a try.
